In the Room Where It Happened

Your All American College Show was a nationally syndicated TV talent show in the Summer of 1968. There were eleven half hour shows with four acts competing in each show. The winners from the first eight shows returned in weeks nine and ten to compete to become one of the four acts in the final show. Our group, the Mourning Ryde, competed in one of those semi-final shows along with the Dick Carpenter Trio and Linda McClure. In the finals the Carpenters finished second to Linda McClure. 

This video is from the semi-final show that we were part of. We are the four guys in ties and sports jackets standing in the back on the right hand side of the screen. 

The show became famous as the first exposure of the Carpenters to a national audience. As the song in the Broadway play Hamilton says, we were In the Room Where It Happened.
