Mt. Rainier, also known as Mt. Tahoma, has held a special fascination for me since coming to the University of Washington as a student in 1965. While I never felt a "need" to climb it I saw it up close when my friend Chuck and I walked around it on the Wonderland Trail in 2010. It was after spending that kind of time on and "with" the mountain that it became even more mythical. The transformation inspired me to write the song "Up on That Mountain."
