The Brothers Four sound is deceptively simple

If a chapbook of poems contains eleven poems the entire book of poems is considered it’s own poem for a total of twelve. While there are four individual voices in The Brothers Four the group has it’s own voice giving us a total of five.
That has been true since the group was formed in 1959 and remains true after fifty-seven years and a total of eleven Brothers later.
For me that voice, often in unison, is one of the distinctive features of the group. Singing in unison takes a lot of concentration and requires listening to the others for the right blend.
On some level I also believe that when we sing a song like “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” our voices are joining with all the other voices who have sung that song down through the years hoping on some level that we better may know peace. For me that has always been the power and passion of folk music.
I am grateful to be able add my voice to what is the voice of The Brothers Four.
