The Brothers Four and Japan

Mark & McCoy

It is impossible to overstate the importance of Japan to the career of The Brothers Four. The group first went in 1962 and has returned over 50 times since then. At different Campfires on the website I talk about the Japanese experience.

McCoy and I have made more than ten trips to Japan together. We have done some club dates that can be pretty grueling with two full shows a night. It is the concert tours that are something special. We stay in great places travel with a dedicated crew while singing in wonderful halls to appreciative audiences.

Before any performance with McCoy I look over at him and am filled with a sense of gratitude. That sense is heightened when we are standing in the wings of another magnificent hall in the amazing country of Japan.

The video “Try to Remember” speaks for itself. The other two videos give you a taste of Japan thanks to Yoko Kazdal.

The audio recordings are of three medleys that are part of a Brothers Four show wherever we perform.

The pictures can give you a peek into the Japanese experience. That is McCoy ironing his shirt before a show. There is also a shot of the crew that travels with us and one with a children's choir that also lets you see the extent of the staging.
