There You Were

For so long I believed I was somehow broken and therefore somehow unloveable for who I truly was. My life's regret is the hurt I caused somehow "proving" to those I loved - who loved me - that I was not lovable.

It took a lot to move from the shadow of silence and secrets to the light of stories and songs. Somehow Pat's and my relationship survived the "move." Became much better - healthier - for it.

"There You Were" is the last song on the "Gratitude, Grit, and Grace" album. An album we introduced at Benaroya Hall in the Spring of 2017. I remember going upstairs the morning I finished writing and singing it to Pat at the dining room table. There are many reasons this song can be found here in "Pat's room."
