It was my good fortune to have visited sites, heard stories, and sung songs of the Civil Rights Struggle of the 50's and 60's half a dozen times. To have walked across the Edmund Pettis Bridge a number of times including with tens of thousands of others on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. Inspiring. Life affirming. I believe from the Bridge we can see the best this country can be.
As the song's chorus says, "Once we cross that bridge, old friend, can't go back to where we've been. Though we return from where we came, nothing is the same."
