Mark Pearson - Find to Love in Me | Song Circles

And then there's one more question, important yes indeed. What does someone like yourself find to love in me?

This week I'd like to introduce my wife, Pat. She is the photographer behind the pictures we share in each Song Circle, and this week she is the one in the picture.

Over the years I have formed a number of small Song Circles with friends and family. It has been, and remains, a way for me - for us in those circles - to feel connected and in some way part of each other's lives.

At this time in my life and career the idea of feeling connected - of being part of something bigger than myself - ourselves - seems as universal as it does personal. So, on the road to my last concert I will be creating a Song Circle available on YouTube - that folks can sign up for and receive weekly via email.

It will be a Song Circle inspired by a quote from the German writer, poet, and scientist Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
"We should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of our lives, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul."

Every week there will be a new song, a photograph or photographs taken by my wife, Pat, and an original poem written by my friend, James Nystrom, or occasionally other fine poets.

At its core the idea is that we are all in this together - more or less the same - and we can find each other in our stories and our songs, as well as fine pictures and heartfelt poems.

"Rare Rainbows" by James Nystrom

Rainbows are rare,
But sometimes
Rainbows appear
Over just the right
Time and place
To question coincidence.

Lyrics - "Find to Love in Me"

Sometimes I stop and wonder
What is life about
Stop and ask some questions
Try to figure some things out
Some are questions with few answers
Some are ways of wondering why
Though I may not find answers
At times I have to try

Is love something that grows out of us
Or that we grow into?
Is faith what we believe in
Or something that we do?
What of human motivations?
What of love and what of fear?
What unites us, what divides us?
What are we doing here?

When there is enough of something
Why do we still want more?
What of truth and what of justice?
Can we put an end to war?
Where does tomorrow come from?
The past, where does it go?
These are just a few things
I'd really like to know

And then there's one more question
Important, yes indeed
What does someone like yourself
Find to love in me?

What is more important
What we feel, believe or think?
And does it really matter
In some larger scheme of things?
If one person makes no difference
Then what difference does this make?
And of people we run into
Is it chance or is it fate?

Is there life out there somewhere?
If there is, what is it worth?
Is it somehow more important
Than life right here on Earth?
Is there life after this one
Or is this one all she wrote?
These are just a few things
I'd really like to know

And then there's one more question
Important, yes indeed
What does someone like yourself
Find to love in me?

What does someone like yourself
Find to love in me?
